A Reading Pillow

I had a bunch of leftovers from my #scrappytripalong quilt that were begging to be turned into something.  Since that quilt was for the 7yr old I thought it'd be fun to make her a matching reading pillow.

Orange, Purple, and Pink Patchwork Pillow

Princess Reading Pillow Back

I tried to give it the same look as the quilt by using the same binding fabric and backing pieces,
and while I'm usually not a matchy-matchy girl, I kinda love it with this project.

Hand and Machine Quilting Detail on Patchwork Reading Pillow

While trying to expand my horizons, I decided to mix some chunky hand quilting with some straight line machine quilting.  I'll definitely revisit this method again.

Little Miss reading a book

The little miss has been putting her pillow and quilt to good use!
This is her before church one Sunday hanging out in my sewing room with a good book!

Fabrics are these, with a bunch more stash mixed in.

Fabulous!!!
I love mixing hand and machine quilting; ONLY hand quilting would take forever, but it certainly adds a charm that you don't get by only machine quilting ~ so mixing the two together is, in my book, perfect :-)

These colors are perfect for S and by the pix she thinks so, too. The quilts and pillows are just full of love from both the giver and the receiver, which is why we all love homemade quilts, etc. Love you. M

I am a grown woman but we are never too old for princess fabric are we? I love it (may have something to do with the fact this is a very male household, I need more girlie stuff!) Great pillow, have a great Christmas!

That is an awesome big pillow. I don't know whether I like the front or the back more. Glad to see that it is already getting some good use.

I love the colors! Such a great combo. And that scrappytrip is beautiful. I'm gonna poke around and see what else you've been up to.
