Back in March when I was helping the young women learn how to sew my nine year old asked if I'd teach him to sew as well. Not wanting to miss that opportunity I quickly jumped at the chance to let him start sewing. I mean, boys can sew too, right?! Since I was in the middle of making improv blocks I decided that would be a good place for him to start. And just like with the girls I gave him a few pointers and turned him loose.
I didn't really think that it would amount to anything more than a day spent with me in my sewing room...
But low and behold he made a block and LOVED it!
And then he made some more. And a few more...
Over the course of the last few months he's managed to make 18 blocks!
Thirty blocks will give him a nice sized throw when he's done so he's well on his way.
As you can see he's pretty happy with his progress.
And I'm happy that at least for now he's sewing!!

Way to go, P!!!Yes, boys can sew and the blocks you are making are really colorful and nice. I'd say pretty, but maybe you don't want a "pretty" quilt. M
His blocks look great! I'm jealous of his improv skills! :)
Yes! Boys CAN sew! I love these blocks - they look so good together. My 10 yo grandson asked to sew a few weeks ago - he made a pillow and sleeps with it every night. Your son looks so proud, and has a beautiful smile! :)
